Pastoral Care and Safeguarding in Education

working together to keep children safe

"School and college staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early, provide help for children, and prevent concerns from escalating. All staff members should receive appropriate safeguarding and child protection training which is regularly updated."
Keeping Children Safe in Education, September 2016

Since 1998 we have been delivering Pastoral Care and Safeguarding training to every level of the education sector. Practitioners in early years settings, preparatory, primary, secondary schools and colleges, covering local authority and across the independent sector have all benefitted from our specialist knowledge and calm, professional delivery style to receive and update their skills and practice.

See below for our current courses for the education sector or click here for more about how we work those in education.

Our team of facilitators

All our training facilitators are experts in their specialist field, with relevant qualifications and are part of our team because they are also outstanding training professionals.

They utilise a wide variety of training techniques, recognising that individuals learn at a different pace and use different approaches to achieve effective information exchange. The delivery for each course will be appropriate for the group and for each individual attending on the day.

Cost Effective

We understand that budgets are increasingly under pressure so we have designed these events to provide a cost effective solution to the training needs of this sector. Discounts for multiple delegates are available now and options will be available soon for block bookings allowing individual team members to each select and attend the courses that are relevant and appropriate for them.

We can provide in-house 'whole setting' training for groups where there is a common need for training or updating on a topic.

'Whole School' Training

All staff in education are expected to undertake safeguarding training and to refresh their learning every two years. We can provide whole school safeguarding sessions to ensure that all your staff are up to date to meet government expectations and Ofsted/Independent Inspectorate requirements.

Our experienced trainers will offer them an outstanding training experience that will prepare them to meet their child protection responsibilities

Safeguarding & Pastoral Care Audits

We can also offer a safeguarding audit carried out by one of our consultants. This review of safeguarding practice is based on:

  • a meeting with the Head Teacher the Designated Child Protection Lead and a representative of the governing body
  • a meeting with the school bursar
  • sight of the single central record
  • information on the website regarding policies and procedures
  • sight of training records
  • sight of risk assessments
  • completion of an audit based on s175 of the Education Act 2002

The review will identify areas for development to offer guidance and advice to the school, including the governing body, so that a high standard of pastoral care and safeguarding child protection can be provided to all pupils. This audit will act as a significant tool in preparing to meet the expectations of any inspection. Call us on 01243 544 960 or Contact us for further information about these options.
