Pastoral Care and Safeguarding in Education

working together to keep children safe

Covid-19 Update

During the current uncertain situation, we have reluctantly decided not to offer any further face to face courses. We are all having to make difficult decisions about travelling and attending events and it seems wise to avoid any unnecessary risk. We will, of course, be organising courses again when the current crisis is resolved and we look forward to seeing you when everything is back to normal. We will be keeping you in touch with information about events as they come on stream again.

In the meantime our online courses (click here for details) are available and those who need to update their learning, or who wish to undertake further development, can take advantage of learning that can be accessed and completed without the need to leave home or your workplace.

"School and college staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early, provide help for children, and prevent concerns from escalating. All staff members should receive appropriate safeguarding and child protection training which is regularly updated."

Our team of facilitators

All our training facilitators are experts in their specialist field, with relevant qualifications and are part of our team because they are also outstanding training professionals.

They utilise a wide variety of training techniques, recognising that individuals learn at a different pace and use different approaches to achieve effective information exchange. The delivery for each course will be appropriate for the group and for each individual attending on the day.

Cost Effective

We understand that budgets are increasingly under pressure so we have designed these events to provide a cost effective solution to the training needs of this sector. Discounts for multiple delegates are available now and options will be available soon for block bookings allowing individual team members to each select and attend the courses that are relevant and appropriate for them.

We can provide in-house 'whole setting' training for groups where there is a common need for training or updating on a topic.

The Training Groups

These courses provide training suitable for individuals and cover topics defined as mandatory by current statutory guidance for schools, colleges and early years settings. Some or all staff will need to have received this training in order to comply with current expectations.

Topics included here provide great opportunities for staff to develop their professional practice and explore issues relevent to their specific needs. Although not compulsory these will provide a great insight into a variety of important subjects.

Whole School

This training is best delivered in-house to settings as the content is required by all staff who come into contact with children and young people in Education. we offer a convenient and cost effective solution to this for all education establishments. Please contact us for more information

'Whole School' Training

All staff in education are expected to undertake safeguarding training and to refresh their learning every two years. We can provide whole school safeguarding sessions to ensure that all your staff are up to date to meet government expectations and Ofsted/Independent Inspectorate requirements.

Our experienced trainers will offer them an outstanding training experience that will prepare them to meet their child protection responsibilities

Safeguarding & Pastoral Care Audits

We can also offer a safeguarding audit carried out by one of our consultants. This review of safeguarding practice is based on:

  • a meeting with the Head Teacher the Designated Child Protection Lead and a representative of the governing body
  • a meeting with the school bursar
  • sight of the single central record
  • information on the website regarding policies and procedures
  • sight of training records
  • sight of risk assessments
  • completion of an audit based on s175 of the Education Act 2002

The review will identify areas for development to offer guidance and advice to the school, including the governing body, so that a high standard of pastoral care and safeguarding child protection can be provided to all pupils. This audit will act as a significant tool in preparing to meet the expectations of any inspection. Call us on 01243 544 960 or Contact us for further information about these options.

Yesterday was brilliant - I really got a lot out of it. Thanks again

Thanks as well for the session yesterday. Fascinating stuff, and somehow you managed to make the day really enjoyable (a tough call given the necessary content!).

An excellent facilitator and trainer. Very engaging. Very knowledgeable. Very clear about key issues. Practical advice backed up with excellent knowledge and clearly very experienced. Thank you very much.

EC, St Albans Primary School

This was an excellent course mainly down to the superb way the trainer delivered it. Really excellent.
